Privacy Policy

Last updated October 21, 2026

bytehatch makes small software tools, starting with the MarketHunter browser extension. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

About this policy

This policy covers the bytehat.ch website and the products bytehatch makes, including the MarketHunter browser extension (“bytehatch”, “we”, “us”). It applies to anyone who visits our website, contacts us, or uses one of our products.

What we collect

  • What you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include.
  • Information from the pages you use our products on. Our browser extensions work on websites you open yourself, such as online marketplaces. While you use one, it may collect information shown on those pages, such as listing details and the public name a seller lists under, along with the general search area you choose.
  • Technical information. When you visit our website or a product contacts our servers, our hosting providers record basic technical details, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested.

Most of what you set up in a product, such as saved searches, alerts, filters and settings, is stored in your own browser.

How we use it

  • To run our products and the features you use, and to improve them.
  • To build features that compare listings across many searches, such as typical prices for an item.
  • To answer your messages and provide support.
  • To keep our services secure, prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only:

  • with service providers who host and run our website and products for us, such as hosting and database providers, who may use it only to provide their services to us;
  • when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, the public or bytehatch;
  • as part of a merger, sale or similar change to our business, under this policy.

Cookies and tracking

Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and our products do not track you across the websites you visit.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Listing information may be kept to power features that look across many listings. Uninstalling an extension stops it collecting anything, and clearing its data in your browser removes what it stored there. If a listing of yours appears in our data and you want it removed, contact us.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, wherever you live. We will not treat you differently for asking. Email us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

Our website and products are not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on our website before it takes effect.
